the dream project
It's not often you discover an organization that genuinely does good by the world.
That's exactly what I discovered in the wonderful organization called The DREAM Project.
It began back in 1995 when a group of Dartmouth students decided to volunteer in two Caberete schools. Today it is a global organization run by primarily Dominicans, expates and a handful of dedicated volunteers. Every year, DREAM helps more than 6,000 children receive a better education through its 14 programs in 15 different communities - overall imporving the education of Domican children.
I was lucky enough to attend their annual gala held in Uptown New York. I met the inspirational and forever giving board members Karla Farach de Athanasopoulos and William S. Friedman
Here are some of the highlights from the evening: my Vera Bradley bag had a good night too!
with the board members of The DREAM Project
Such an inspirational group of people! Honored to walk the red carpet with them
Everyone enjoyed the red carpet
Miss Domican Republic joined us too!
Here is a list of donors
One specific program they run is incredible - bringing awareness and education for HIV related infections called Deportes Para La Vida - The program uses a peer-to-peer education model, where local youth trained as DPV coaches deliver the curriculum, serve as mentors, and develop their own leadership abilities.
This ornate bar was the perfect backdrop for this gala - Also want to give a shout out to my fave hand bag of the evening by the ever so chic designer hand bag label Vera Bradley
I even got to meet Miss New York!
things got fun quickly :)
But first let me take a selfie!
I met this fabulous singer too
I made many new friends...
Organizations like this are only as good as their amazing voluteers - YOU - apply today if you want to transform a childs life and discover the best personal growth - apply to be a volunteer here
I ended the night in the perfect place - latino beats, fabulous atmosphere and inspiring people doing good for the world - both me and my Vera Bradley bag were happy :)
