How to Build My Dream Barrel Sauna

It has been exciting times at our Authentic Austrian Country House lately. If you follow me on Instagram then you would know I've been busy building not only a baby but also my dream Sauna!!!

When it comes to Saunas, Austria has a great choice for Sauna options but I wanted to go with the absolute best of the best in sauna wellness and construction and opted for a Finnish company called Harvia.

Harvia is one of the most trusted and globally recognised Sauna brands. There are many reasons for their well deserved recognition in the sauna and wellness space. Firstly being in business since 1950 is a true testament to the companies expertise in Sauna wellness and construction.

We choose the Harvia Kammi Barrel Sauna. I wanted to show you how we built the sauna and our journey in creating our wellness and relaxation area at our Country House.

Firstly we wanted to position the sauna in a natural wilderness setting, so the Harvia Kammi barrel sauna perfectly suited our Austrian wilderness environment. It also comfortably fits 6 people.

Also Harvia were such professional' in the delivery of the sauna. It actually snowed the day of delivery but this did not deter the good people at Harvia. You can see below, Snow, hail or sunshine - they will go to great lengths to deliver their products on time and safely to any location.

The construction of the actual Sauna itself took 1.5 days with 2 people. The instructions are super easy to follow and made the workflow very easy and our kids also loved watching the construction process too!

We realised firstly since we wanted to place the sauna amongst the forest and over looking our river we'd need to build a foundation first to support the Sauna. We did this and it turned out perfect!

Then it was time to build our dream Sauna!!!

We are also going to build a beautiful decking around the sauna and add an outdoor shower too! We want to create something similar to this!

Building the roof was a lot of fun too.

And we opted for the Harvia Combinator electric heater with integrated steamer for our sauna stove. I also love the overall design of this sauna. Both the exterior and interior are superb!

The boys deserved a a break at the end of the day!
